CPIS
received some information today from Fort Hood in response to their FOIA request:
- A map of 25 landing zones. We had thought there were only 20. The photos are so blurry that they actually all look the same. We'll see what we can do about that.
- Some projected numbers on number of lights and type of aircraft. In this case the majority of flights were for Apache helos. This is only about the Fort Hood training exercise. Nothing about the Fort Bragg exercise which came later.
- An indication that a permanent long term arrangement is being sought for using these 25 LZ's.
What
they didn't get:
- Any record of the process by which this all happened. It appears that the Army was just given a blank check to go out and establish these LZ's and they did so. No timeline is included.
- No after action report on what actually happened during the exercise, number of flights, inspections after the fact etc.
- Nothing
in writing concerning the actual agreement. We are left to assume
this was all a wink and a nod with no paper trail.
