January 25:
Just wanted to report on my trip to the Broadmoor Monday to check things out as they were setting up for the big killing machine convention there Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  It's a who's who of the military industrial complex.  5 military sponsors and 70 total display organizations including UCCS.  They were the only academic entry that I noticed in a quick glance at the list.  Northrup Grumman has 5 slots to lead the way. Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Raytheon also had multiple spaces.  SI International will be there and a lot of electronic firms such as Sun etc.  The new convention center Broadmoor Hall is huge.  It is divided into 2 parts with the display hall taking up half,  leaving a giant room next door for group gatherings and big banquets
As you know we plan a group protest outside on Wednesday, January 25 from 1 -2.  Hope you can come.  Maybe you can get there some other time during the 3 days.  I've pasted below the final text of our leaflet:

This gathering brings together the elite of the U.S. war making and spying community. The sponsoring agencies of "Defending America": Air Force Space Command, NORAD, Northern Command, Army Space and Missile Command and the Armed Forces spy organization AFCEA, are carrying out the Bush doctrine of permanent war abroad and  increased police state activity at home.

They and their corporate partners are the beneficiaries  of a military budget which has ballooned from $300 to $500 billion and a spying budget which has grown from $30 to $45 billion .  Both policies ignore domestic and international law. Both operate in an environment of fear. Both operate behind closed doors with utter disdain for democratic values.

They can make you the target of a bomb or of illegal surveillance.  And they are a failure. If we are to learn anything from the eventsof "9-11" we need a radical course correction before it is too late. Recent history has shown that some in this community agree that this is wrong. Some of you here can become whistle blowers and help stop this madness.

It is rare to find a gathering that brings together as many of the war making and spying elite as this symposium at the Broadmoor. The sponsoring agencies of "Defending  America";  Air Force Space Command, NORAD, Northern Command, Army Space and Missile Command and the Armed Forces spy organization, AFCEA,  are carrying out the Bush doctrine of permanent war abroad and  increased police state activity at home. They are the beneficiaries of a military budget which has ballooned from $300 to $500 billion and a spying budget which has  grown from $30 to $45 billion .  Both policies ignore domestic and international law. Both operate in an environment of fear. Both operate behind closed doors with utter  disdain for democratic values.  And they are a failure. If we are to learn anything from the events of "9-11" we need a radical course correction before it is too late.  Join us on January 25, 1 - 2 PM to help stop this madness. Below I have reprinted an advertising blurb concerning an upcoming symposium at the Broadmoor convention center. It will be held in their new facility, Broadmoor Hall. Citizens for Peace in Space is planning to banner there on January 25 from 1 - 2 o'clock.
