The
brigade specs for the deployment. The plan, according to the spin meister present,
is to exchange an IBCT brigade (3,500) from Fort Carson with Hawai'i and therefore
the net gain would be 500 soldiers. That would require housing, sewage, water,
etc, so a severe environmental impact in a fragile ecology, but if the trade
falls through, then the net gain is 4,005 at Fort Carson.
Either way, the "need" for the PCMS expansion, in the Army's eyes, for a training area for this brigade of 317 Strykers, is obvious.
